The Sarajevo Spartans Flag Football team hosted its first Flag Football tournament on Sunday, April 28, 2019. It was held at Veliko Polje on Mount Igman, site of the Cross Country events of the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. The Mile-High Tournament saw the participation of not only the Sarajevo Spartans, but three Croatian teams as well from Dubrovnik, Split and Rijeka.
It was a great day for the development of the new sport of American Football in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Members of the senior tackle squad for the Sarajevo Spartans were present in big numbers to support the youngsters in various roles….referees, photographers, line painters, coaches, and fans. Due to the overwhelming encouragement, the young Spartans played their two best games of the 2019 Season.
Eldar Balta, President of the Sarajevo Spartans, has been an incredible example of a strong leader in the development of the sport in BiH. He has worked tirelessly and rallied many supporters in the area to join the cause.
